CEMIG Begins Implementation of DWDM Network

Cemig Telecom

Minas Gerais, Brazil:

Brazilian regional operator Cemig Telecom has started the implementation of DWDM technology on its networks in the state of Minas Gerais. This technology multiplies the fibre-optic capacity and enables dozens of high-speed channels, up to 100 Gbps each, in a single pair of optical fiber. According to the operator, the implementation of DWDM represents a significant technological upgrade in the provision of its telecommunications services. CEMIG hopes to expand their product services offering considerably over the next few years.

From July, the technology will be available in over 50 cities in Minas Gerais. Recently, Cemig Telecom expanded its coverage to another 18 cities in four other Brazilian states, including the metropolitan areas of Fortaleza, Goiania, Salvador and Recife.
